Why feeding matters here

Connecticut lawns work against a lot: harsh winters, humid summers, heavy rain, and soils that swing from sandy on the coast to dense clay and rocky loam inland. Our cool-season grasses — Kentucky bluegrass, fine fescue, perennial rye — need steady, well-timed nutrition to stay dense and green through all of it.

A bag of fertilizer from the hardware store can't do that. Feeding a lawn properly is about timing and balance — the right nutrients at each stage of the season, so the lawn builds roots, resists weeds and disease, and holds its color from spring through fall. That's what our program is built to do.

Our Fertilization Program

We feed your lawn across a full 7-application season, timed to how Connecticut lawns actually grow. Each visit does a specific job, and each one builds on the last:

  • Spring wakes the lawn up and strengthens roots after winter.
  • Summer feeds steadily through heat stress with slow-release nitrogen, so your lawn stays green without surging.
  • Fall drives deep root growth and stores energy for winter — the foundation of next year's lawn.

We use slow-release nitrogen and professional-grade products that aren't available at retail. Slow-release means even, lasting color instead of a quick green flush that fades — and it's gentler on the lawn through summer heat.

Weed control is built in.

Every fertilization program includes crabgrass pre-emergent and broadleaf weed control, timed through the season — because a fed lawn and a weed-free lawn are the same goal.

Grub and insect control included

Here's where we're different from most programs: grub and surface insect control is part of your season, not a costly add-on.

White grubs feed on grass roots through late summer and fall, and the damage — turf that pulls up like loose carpet — is usually mistaken for drought until it's too late. Left alone, grubs also draw skunks and raccoons that tear up the lawn to feed. We include grub control and a second surface-insect application in summer, when chinch bugs and sod webworms do their damage. You shouldn't have to think about which bug is eating your lawn. That's our job.

The Pro-Turf guarantee

We stand behind every application. If weeds we treated aren't dying off the way they should, call or text us and we'll come back out at no additional charge.

What we won't do is promise that new weeds never appear — Connecticut lawns are surrounded by woods, wind, and wildlife constantly bringing in new seed. Our job is to stay ahead of that pressure, season after season. If something's not working the way it should, we want to know.

One local crew, the whole property

We're a licensed, local Connecticut company — not a national chain running your zip code from three states away run by a private equity group. The same crew that feeds your lawn can handle your tick control, tree and shrub care, aeration, and more, all on one simple account.

Frequently asked questions

How long until I see results?

Most homeowners see clear improvement within two to three applications. A full transformation — thicker turf, fewer weeds, healthier soil — usually takes a full season, and lawns that have struggled for years can take two.

Is it safe for kids and pets?

Yes. Once an application has dried — usually a few hours, depending on weather — the lawn is safe for normal use. We let you know when each visit is done so you can plan around it.

Do I need to be home?

No. We text you the day before and again the day of, so you always know when we're coming and when we're finished.

What's included in the program?

Seven applications across the season: slow-release fertilization, crabgrass and broadleaf weed control, grub and surface-insect control, and a lime/pH-balancing application. A complete feeding and protection program, not just fertilizer.

Why don't you offer a one-time application?

Lawns don't respond to one-time treatments. A single feeding without follow-up doesn't build soil health, hold back weeds, or create lasting density. If you only want a single treatment, we'll point you to someone who does that work.

Can I combine it with your other services?

Yes — most of our lawn care clients also use our tick, fungicide, aeration, or tree and shrub programs. One trusted crew, one account, simpler billing.
